A Brief History of BGC
Bloomington Christian Church has roots that date back as far as the early 1800’s when the community of Bloomington was established by settlers from Pennsylvania and other parts of the United States. The church was established in 1823 and it's first building was erected on a plot on the East side of what is now Ninth Line.
Today the cemetery remains on the east side, and the current building - built in 1892 - stands on the west side of the road. Part of a circuit of churches for many years - the church was affiliated with the “Christian Church”, but in 1956 Bloomington Christian Church became a member of the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada and took the name of Bloomington Gospel Church.
